To an advocate, it is a basic question from the public that whether to receive summons or not. I heard people saying that we should not receive summons and blindly ignore it. Hence I post this to make people understandably simple.
A. What is summons?
Summon is a court order to an individual to appear before the court of law at a specified date & time at the specified Court.
B. How it served?
Summons shall be served by an officer of the court issuing it or any other public servant
C. Your duties?
To receive the summons &
To appear in person on the date mentioned in the summon before the specified court or to engage an advocate to appear on your behalf
D. Consequences of ignoring summons:
The concerned court shall pass any adverse orders against you (may be civil or criminal) regarding the case, when you ignore the summon.
